Whether you agree with me or not, we are indeed our habits. Habits are what I call a fluid body, they control our impulses and subtly control our lives, if not attended they may lead us where we never wanted to be.

If a person can maintain a certain habit, they are guaranteed to reach where they want to be, and the opposite is true. So here are 5 habits that maintain my higher vibrations.

#1. Waking up with the sun.

Our bodies follow the rhythms of the earth, if we maintain that natural rhythms, we are in harmony, where our mental, emotional and physical wellbeing stays in an optimal state.

So, what I usually do even if I don’t have to wake up early, I always wake up few minutes before sunrise. I can either do my breathing exercise, my morning meditation, or chanting my mantra. The key here is to wake up with the sun, to catch the rising energies of the earth.

#2. Rest with the day.

Our bodies are smaller versions of the earth, they mirror the mechanisms of the cosmos, if you maintain the earth’s cycles, you are maintaining the body rhythms. I know there are very few people who sleep when the sun goes down. But the key here is to wrap things up when the day is over. It means to take a rest to indulge in your personal affairs, it can be watching your tv shows, going to a gym, hanging out with friends, meditation, yoga, and so on as long as it doesn’t involve work.

#3. Be where you are.

Electronic devices and the modern lifestyle have altered our ability to stay focused. We are bombarded with so much information that overloads our capacity to process it. Then we end up shortening our attention span.

However, if you can be mindful and do one task at a time, karma will reward you handsomely. A lot of people think that focus and attention are something that people are born with, though it is partially true, the fact is focus and attention span are things that a person can train to gain.

If you put an effort to put your mind on one task at a time it becomes a habit. By simply putting an effort to be in the present moment, it becomes a habitual pattern. We all know with sharp focus a person can accomplish a lot.

#4. Take small rests.

Whenever you feel tired, it only means one thing, that your body needs a small rest, by resting you are rejuvenating and giving yourself momentum to continue on whatever you are doing. But if you keep on pushing yourself on a certain task, your performance will decrease.

Take a coffee break, step out of the work area for few minutes, walk in the garden, and so on, just to take your mind off the task or a minute. this helps to see the same task from a different angle. Doing a repetitive task over and over becomes monotonous and boring, which might retard your motivation. That’s where small breaks come in.

#5. Afternoon naps.

I learn a lot from animals because they follow the natural rhythms of the earth, If you can, I would recommend having a habit of taking afternoon naps. Don’t underestimate these naps, because naps are like meditation, where whenever you take a 15 minutes rest is like resetting your mind. When you wake up, it becomes like a new day with a fresh outlook on any task you were doing.

I have noticed after my short afternoon naps, all the tiring and mind fogs have disappeared, where I become active ready to finish whatever I was doing.
