9 Simple Tips to Increase your Chances of Having Out-of-body Experiences.
Why most people fail to experience Astral Projection
I consider myself an average person when it comes to psychic phenomena and other spiritual experiences including an out-of-body experience.
When I first heard about Astral projection, I was so excited to learn about it. The first book I read was Journeys out of the Body by Robert Monroe. This book didn’t rhyme with me. I returned it to the library and found another book, Adventures Beyond the Body, by William Buhlman, which caught my attention.
I had previously read a lot from online forums about out-of-body experiences and how to do it, but at that time nothing really worked. There were techniques such as rope climbing, rolling over, and so much more. But none of them produced results.
In my experience, the easiest visualization technique is the one described in the book Adventures beyond the body.
As you drift to sleep, you see yourself walking around your house adding as much detail as you can, (this is not a memory exercise). You move around your house touching things, you touch your sofa, feel the fabrics, feel your feet on the floor, feel the temperature of your surroundings, hear voices, walk around, and feel the weight of your body exerted on the ground, (do not add any fantasies or imaginations just do it as if you are really there).
The Mechanics of Astral Projection
To be able to achieve an out-of-body experience, you must at least understand what you are doing. You have to abide by the principles behind it so that it works for you.
Astral projection follows two major principles:
- Principle of vibrations and frequencies. Dimensions exist in the same space simultaneously. In order to move from one dimension to another, you simply shift your vibrations.
In every dimension, you have a separate body. In mystical teachings, humans have seven bodies apart from the biological body. And that these other bodies vibrate at a higher or lower frequency than our biological body. - The principle of mentalism relies on focus, concentration, and attention. This principle states that: you become what you focus upon and that wherever your attention is focused, energy flows as well. In the bible, Jesus said that your treasure is where your heart is.
In addition to this, there is the principle of accumulation of energies. Therefore, the more attention you put on a specific frequency, the more energy accumulates there until it is sufficient for your other bodies to become activated. It is a law of balance that in one way or another you will lose your focus on this dimension. This is so that it can be shifted to a higher dimension. In Buddhism and real Christianity for example they encourage abstinence from material wealth. This is because the more focus and attention you put on your material wealth, the more energy is transferred from other dimensions to this dimension. In the end, you forget your true origin.
By applying these principles, it will become apparent to you why these exercises are effective. You become more aware of these other bodies the longer you focus your attention on them. It is imperative to involve your five senses so that mental concentration takes place. Moreover, there is the principle of accumulation, which states that wherever your attention is energy accumulates. Continually visualizing will allow your energy body to accumulate energy and become activated.
Here are ten tips to help you successfully astral project.
Don’t look for magic.
Never expect to see the results overnight. This was the biggest roadblock for me because I thought it was ‘magic’. Initially, I thought the visualization itself was magical, that if one visualized it, they would find themselves out of the body. However, it takes a lot of perseverance because the big roadblocks are fear and self-doubt which will eventually make you give up before you even try it.
Keep up with the pace
Practice it on a daily basis. If you plan to go to bed at 10:00 PM try to maintain the same pace throughout the entire practice, and once you start the exercise don’t stop until you have achieved it. Because our bodies create a habit, which when interrupted the experience becomes unpleasant.
Get rid of your negative mindset and limiting beliefs.
Take care of your limiting beliefs, and negative mentality as these are huge obstacles. The negative mentality will creep up on you and bring you down. You might have an excuse like, ‘I am tired tonight, I’ll do it later. Then the next day, oh my favorite TV show is on, so I must watch it. The underlying problem is a limiting belief and a negative mentality. Reading more books on similar topics will help you keep these limiting beliefs at bay. In addition, you can focus your attention on things that motivate you.
Be in the present moment.
Do it for fun without anxiety or stress about when the experience will happen. When you are at ease, without worrying about how things will or should turn out, you are in the present moment, enjoying the whole experience. Try to be as relaxed as you can while doing the exercise.
Maintain a neutral emotional and mental state.
It is advisable not to watch highly emotional and stimulating movies before you get to sleep because they will interfere with the process as you fall asleep. After being involved in any activity that charges your emotions, you need to tune back to your rhythms first before you do anything else. If you attempt to astral project when your emotions are messed up, this will get in the way and might even bring a negative experience. The mind is a sensitive thing, so it is advisable to be in a neutral attitude before you engage in your daily visualization techniques.
Use Crystals.
Use crystals and place them under your pillow. I have personally experienced a lot of vivid dreams and have received messages in dreams by simply placing crystals under my pillow. This is another topic, but it’s worth mentioning how you can use crystals as tools to increase your focus and assist you in successfully astral projecting.
Use your intention.
Make effective use of your intention. A lot of people underestimate the power of intention, as your intention could very well be the very thing that obstructs you from having an out-of-body experience. By simply intending to astral project this will create circumstances and synchronicities that will result in having an out-of-body experience.
Asking for guidance.
Asking for assistance, remember there are so many unseen beings surrounding us, even our spiritual guardians and ancestors are always around us ready to give us assistance whenever we need one. So, asking for assistance to achieve an out-of-body experience is not such a bad idea.
Afternoon naps.
Take afternoon naps. The first time I heard this, I thought it was a joke until it happened to me several times during my afternoon nap. It seems that the dimensions shift as planets and celestial bodies turn around. I have experimented with it to find out that your head position in relation to the sun has a lot to do with this. Even the ancient Egyptians buried the dead based on this principle.
Conclusion
Be willing to let go. Having an open mind and heart means that even though this is what you wish to experience, there could be a compelling reason that you are not able to do it. It is possible that the time you are practicing is not the right time for you to experience astral projection. And in the event that your guardians tell you that this is not the time, you must be willing to let go.
The question to ask yourself is why do you wish to astral project? Do you want to experience it for the sake of just having the experience? Or is there a question that you seek an answer to? Because by revising the intention of wanting to soul travel, you might find out that maybe all that you really need is already in front of you.
