After listening to a lot of podcasts and interviews about what lies ahead of us, it has come to my attention that deep down people are not really afraid of losing their jobs but are afraid of change itself. We find ourselves living in our comfort zones, unwilling to change, so when something happens that challenges us, we feel threatened.
Artificial Intelligence will eventually replace most of the human jobs in an iteration of four waves:
- The first wave will replace all jobs that are information-based jobs such as accountants, secretaries, customer service, and teachers. Because most information is available online for anyone to learn anything, this first wave passed silently. It has not been structured properly. When you think of accounting, back in 2019, I used the QuickBooks app to do my company taxes. So, these types of professionals will be replaced in the blink of an eye.
- The second wave is what I call the Fivver-employment, from graphic design, coding, MS Office, editors, ghostwriters, writers, website creation, content creation, animation, video editing, and such. These types of jobs will soon be replaced by A.I because A.I will make better, faster, and cheaper products compared to what humans do.
- The third wave will replace all repetitive tasks and physical labor such as cleaning, factory work, warehouse work, delivery, driving, farming, and so forth. By then the majority of people will be without jobs. I believe we are already in the third wave. The only thing slowing us down is scalability and implementation.
- The fourth wave will make all work totally autonomous where all complicated tasks such as construction, surgery, repair work, engineering, and so forth will be automated by AI. This is close since AI is growing at an exponential rate and because they use AI to train AI.
Now the big question is where does this leave you? This is what I want to talk about. What steps will you take to adjust to the changes?

If you think that your job might be replaced by automation technologies, don’t sweat it because good things are right around the corner. Here are some new opportunities that will rise as artificial intelligence takes over your workspace:
#1 Automation:
The first thing that comes to mind is automation because as AI becomes more autonomous, you can use it to your own advantage. You can automate your writing skills and be more productive if you are a writer.
For example, ChatGPT can write an entire article for you, where you can use it as a draft generator, tweak the article, and use it. Same thing with computer programmers. Instead of spending hours coding, you can automate your creative process and become more productive. Instead of thinking that it will replace you think on how much you can achieve because, at the end of the day, it is the product that matters not the process of creating the product.
#2 Startups:
Most people fail to reach their dreams because they lack expertise and financial resources. AI makes it easy because it has the expertise and will do it at an affordable price compared to what a real professional would do.
One of my aspirations is to one day wake up and be able to create my own vehicle from the ground up. At the moment, doing this will cost me both arms and legs. However, the future shines bright for me, because I know one day, I will be able to use AI to assist me with such a task. This is where I can create my dream car and 3D print it at the speed of thought.
The use of artificial intelligence makes it easier and cheaper to create your own app instead of spending thousands of dollars hiring people. While people might lose a lot of jobs at the same time there will also rise a lot of as-yet-undiscovered opportunities.
#3 Creativity Space:
One of the biggest opportunities amid the explosion of AI is originality and creativity. While AI can do so much, it simply doesn’t know what to do and that is the most appealing fact about it. I am such a terrible artist, but I do have lots of images in my mind that I cannot simply express because I lack that artistry.
With the assistance of AI, I will be able to express these mental images precisely, even make movies about them. There are already a lot of people selling their AI artwork for a reasonable buck. So when AI takes your job know that you still can use it to do the things that you were unable to do while you were employed. And maybe this very thing you do might make you a lot more money than your lifetime salary.
#4 Entertainment industry:
Remember back in the days before YouTube? Or TikTok? Khaby Lame would not be famous or make a penny if these apps didn’t exist. But nowadays, exposure to the world becomes easier and more affordable. This reduces the wealth gap and provides access to tools that are still impossible to reach for low-income people. AI will make it easier for people to create content without requiring a lot of expertise and investment capital.
I can’t wait to create my own movies from my own inspirational stories that I have been writing for years.
